Find what needs to change around the capability
The constraint will vary. It may be access to current information, an integration that still requires manual work, unclear or overlapping ownership or a team that isn’t confident accepting the result. These are possibilities to test in the actual workflow. A general claim that the organisation needs more AI skills doesn’t necessarily identify which one is holding it back.
Datasite’s announced integration with Emma Legal illustrates some of that surrounding work. It connects live deal documents to an AI workspace, preserves access permissions and links findings back to their sources. Lawyers retain review and approval of legal conclusions. It describes an effort to make AI useful within an existing professional workflow, without establishing measured operational results. Datasite announcement.
For leaders and C-Suite, that means looking across the work rather than assessing each tool or team in isolation. Someone needs to own the outcome across those boundaries and have the authority to change the process when a handover is causing the problem. Another recurring message at SWITCH was the importance of executive sponsorship, technical capability and AI literacy in making that transition.
